Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21/10/2026

This notice is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We update it whenever the way we handle your personal information changes.

1. Who we are

Zizi Ventures (Pty) Ltd operates the Zizi's app. We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and we process it only as this notice describes.

2. Information Officer

Our Information Officer is accountable for how Zizi's handles your personal information. You may contact the Information Officer at any time to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to processing, or to complain.

3. Why we may process your information

  • To run your account and your bookings — because you asked us to, and to perform our agreement with you.
  • To vet Agents — with your express consent.
  • To keep you and your home safe — our legitimate interest in safety, met through the safety features you switch on.
  • To meet the law — tax, accounting and consumer records we must keep.
  • To market to you — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. What we collect and why

  • Name, mobile number and email — to create and run your account.
  • SA ID or passport number and date of birth — to verify identity and age.
  • Police clearance documents — to vet Agents. These are sensitive and access is restricted.
  • Photos (ID, selfie, job photos) — for verification and job records.
  • Precise location — shared during a job and if you press the panic button. We do not track you at other times.
  • Payment information — handled by our payment provider. We never store full card numbers.
  • Bank details (Agents) — to pay verified payouts only to your own account.
  • Ratings and in-app chats — for trust, matching and dispute handling.

5. Sensitive and vetting information

Identity documents, selfies, police clearance results and bank details are the most sensitive information we hold. We process them only to confirm who you are, to vet Agents, to pay the right person and to keep the platform safe, and only with your express consent.

Police clearance information concerns criminal behaviour. POPIA requires prior authorisation from the Information Regulator for this kind of processing, and we rely on your consent together with that authorisation where the law requires it. Only the staff who do the vetting may open these documents, every viewing is recorded, and the documents are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed — and immediately when your account is deleted.

6. Who we share it with

We share location with the security partner only during an alert, and payment data only with our payment provider. Our service providers (hosting, payments, messaging and email) may process information for us, only on our instructions and under confidentiality and POPIA obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Information that leaves South Africa

Some of our service providers store or process information outside South Africa. When we transfer your information out of the country, we only send it to a provider bound by laws, or by a contract with us, that give your information a level of protection substantially like POPIA's — or we do it with your consent.

8. How we protect it

We use access controls, restricted staff access to sensitive documents, secure connections, and an audited record of who opened vetting documents. If your information is ever compromised, we notify the Information Regulator and you as soon as reasonably possible, and we tell you what to do to protect yourself.

9. How long we keep it

Vetting documents (ID, selfie, police clearance) are kept only while we vet you and while your Agent profile is live, and they are deleted when you delete your account. Booking, job and payment records are kept because tax and accounting law requires it. Consent records are kept until you withdraw consent, plus a record that you did.

10. Your rights under POPIA

  • To be told whether we hold personal information about you, and to be given a copy of it.
  • To ask us to correct or update anything that is wrong or out of date.
  • To ask us to delete or destroy information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
  • To object to processing, and to withdraw any consent you gave us, at any time.
  • To ask us to stop sending you marketing.
  • Not to be subject to a decision based only on automated processing that affects you significantly. Zizi's does not make such decisions.
  • To complain to the Information Regulator.

These requests are free of charge. You can exercise most of them yourself in the app — view and download your data, correct your details, withdraw marketing consent, and delete your account — or send the request to our Information Officer. We answer within 30 days, and if we need longer we tell you why and when to expect an answer.

11. Marketing

We do not send marketing without your consent, and you can say no at any time without losing access to the app. Job reminders, booking status updates and safety alerts are not marketing: they are part of the service you asked for.

12. Children

Zizi's is for people of 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect a child's personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact our Information Officer and we will delete it.

13. Device permissions

The app asks for a permission only when a feature needs it, and explains why at that moment:

  • Camera and photos — to upload your ID, a selfie, your police clearance and job photos. Files you upload are stored privately and only authorised Zizi's staff can open them.
  • Location — only while a job is active and when the panic button is used.
  • Notifications — job reminders, status changes and safety alerts.

14. Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time under Account in the app, or from the Delete my account page if you can no longer sign in. When you do, upcoming bookings are cancelled, your Agent profile and every document you uploaded are deleted, and your personal details are cleared from your old booking records.

Job and payment totals are kept after deletion because tax and accounting law requires it. Our team removes your login from the app, and we confirm when your deletion is complete.

15. Our PAIA manual

As a private body, Zizi's keeps a manual under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). It lists the records we hold and explains how to ask for access to them. Read our PAIA manual, or ask our Information Officer for a free copy. How long we keep each kind of information is set out in our Data Handling Policy.
